Any i386 platform hardware is okay. Have plenty of disk capacity and reasonable RAM.

It is common practice to add disks over a period of time.
For bridge mode, run upgrade script, it will automatically rebuild partition table and add disk to the array of disks for caching.
For stand-alone mode, contact your support executive.
We provide support for SAN. To use SAN for using as additional storage, contact support team.
Additionally, you can make your own SAN to be used for xCache2. You can add additional server with multiple disks and connect to existing server.
The new server will be treated as SAN. We provide installation support for this setup.
xCache2, for that matter, any caching engine, captures frequently used data in the network and release the same if new requests are made for the same.
We have no way of knowing what content is stored in the caching engine. Please remember, request for the content is generated by the user.
We do not provide mechanism to view existing torrents in the caching engine.

XCache2 is implemented in bridge mode near the edge of the network. The traffic going through the bridge is analyzed for torrent traffic and redirected to the local caching engine.
xCache2 can be implemented either WAN side or LAN side. Implementation decision is taken based on objectives. WAN side implementation ensures that the bandwidth restrictions are applied, if any. LAN side ensures wire-speed torrent transfer.

xCache2 can be fine tuned using web configuration. Web configuration can be accessed from http//xx.xx.xx.xx:192 where xx.xx.xx.xx is the IP address of the Linux box.

Default username is 'admin' and default password is 'admin'
IP addresses can be assigned to the box to solve routing problems. LAN side of the box can be better accessed (served) by the caching engine,
if IP address in the same logical network is assigned to the box.
E.g. If the LAN side has 192.168.1.0/24 logical network, assigning IP from this logical network will improve performance.
If there are multiple logical networks on the LAN side, assign one IP from each of the logical networks for better performance.
This is an optional step.
Restrictions on bandwidth usage can be assigned on the caching engine. xCache2 can create havoc in the network if bandwidth restrictions are not put in place.
E.g. if xCache2 box is on gigabit network and 20 users use caching engine at the same time, each having possibility of getting 80 mbps, there will be choking on the gigabit network.
This would choke even the Internet traffic. It is recommended to use 75% of free bandwidth in the network.
If Internet bandwidth is 100 mbps and you have gigabit network, free wire speed bandwidth is 900 mbps. 75% of 900 mbps is 675 mbps.
This should be configured in xCache box to avoid choking in physical network.
Consider using 10 gbps interfaces for xCache2 and designing the network carefully can deliver higher throughput.
This is an optional step.
You can define logical networks that can be served from this caching engine. If none is provided, entire traffic is served.
E.g. if you have two logical networks, 192.168.1.0/24 and 192.168.2.0/24 and you want to provide caching only to 192.168.1.0/24,
you can specify this information in the filter part of configuration.
This is an optional setting but recommended to be configured.
If your network has L3 switching (routing) on the LAN side of the box, you can avoid next hop icmp warnings by appropriately configuring routing on the xCache box.
If you don't understand this, you probably don't need this feature. This is an optional step.
Essentially give status of the xCache2 box. Used for trouble shooting, rebooting the box. Licensing is included in this page. Use this feature carefully.
